Got up early saturday to a windy morning. Typically wouldn't run the dogs in 20-25 mph winds but land owner and friend, Marshall Winters was still wanting to hunt. This will be the first hunt on this ranch since before deer season. Obviously the conditions were not the best and dogs were having difficulty once they trailed out of the draws. We started checking cattle and I was trying to get a feel for the pastures I haven't hunted. Marshall noticed my cooler missing from the ranger. I figured it had slid out while we were circling a tank damn a ways back. We headed back to the tank to pick up the cooler. The dogs bailed out as we pulled up. We were just there 10 minutes ago. Ended with a young boar.

Started back to the headquarters and decided to walk a draw. Luke opens bayed about 500 yards. We get about 75 yards and cut the catch dog in....I thought it was going to be a large hog because of Luke's stand offish bark. Bay breaks and he runs straight down wind. One Jagd-Bart stays with him for a ways but eventually makes his way back.

Marshall wants to show me one last pasture before calling it a day. We get there and the GPS showed Bart to have tracked the last hog fairly close to where we let out. In about 10 minutes...all three Jagds were baying. My female Jagd is new and she has never bayed...she has caught every pig she has been on. I knew he was going to be large.

Here is a video link to the first attempt at catching this bad boy.

I could see the hog just walking the dogs and spinning when I cut Jack in. To explain the video...I couldn't figure out why the Jagds were still baying when I knew Jack was there. When I get in, the Hog is backed into a brush pile and Jack has him caught in the balls....Huh? That was a first. He is sitting ignoring Jack and fighting the Jagds off. When he sees me...he isn't very happy. I moved and he flipped Marshall who was trying to video. You can here the hog coming at me....it is quite funny.

They get him stopped about 150 yards down and Jack has him caught like he should this time. I put him on scales yesterday...280 lbs. He was a hoss.

I know....the video is funny! We laughed about it afterwords. When I walked in I was about 10-15 feet from the hog and couldn't see Jack. Just the hog sitting on his back end. Once I saw Jack the first thing that went through my mind was..."what in the hell are you doing"....then "how the hell am I going to leg  him when you have him caught like that"

Bart is from Gibbs Jagdterriers in Oregon. He is only 10 months old but doing real good. Luke the fuzzy dog is by far my best dog. He is 13 months old but definitely my best strike dog. He was the only one to get out of that mess injury free.

Nice hunt guys.  I really have to see one of those little dogs work.

The scream at the end of the video is great.  I know exactly how he felt. LOL

I don't know why we did not keep recording....guess heat of the moment.... figured we better get to the dogs asap.

I like to think of it as a yell....rather than a scream. haha
