So i took my Uncle and cousin on a quick hunt Sunday morning where i had been seeing allot of new sign around a tank.  Drove to the tank and parked about 100 yards off the tank and cut the dogs loose.  They instanly rolled out so i firgured we would hit them as soon as they got to the tank, nope.  I got up to the tank and was looking around while the dogs where out and noticed fresh water splashed up on the bank.  I here a bay going, looked at the garmin and they were 400 out.  I headed to them since they were off my place in a hurry.  Got there and 2 bigger hogs busted out and headed towards me.  I eased on by and got to an open pasture where i see Stew sitting down with a hog.  Only dog there so i got to him and stuck it.  The other 2 dogs Superman and my pup Apache where bayed 20 yards away in a tank.  Came up over the tank dam and another 100 pounder was bayed and Apache was trying to catch but someone a while back cut both ears off flush at her head.  I turned Dozer and Dudley loose to make sure we got her caught.  As soon as i turned them loose the pig turned and started swimming across the tank.  Got to ther other side and i tell you when a dog is trained on the ear it makes it challenging to catch it when there isn't one to grab.  Angry  She ran with dogs grabbing her legs about 70 yards across this open field till dozer grabbed the top of her head finally. i let my cousin stick this one.

On another note, i'm all for making this sport fun and enjoyable but, cutting the ears off a hogs at an early age isn't fun.  I'm just glad it wasn't a boar with 2inch teeth and weighed 200 or more.  Whoever did it wasn't a sportman for sure.  They weren't pulled off by a dog either.  They where cut as flush as you can get them against her head.  That's BULLSH&&

Anyways, a good guick hunt though

For sure.  I'm just glad she didn't have another 100 pounds on her.

Never heard of cutting ears like that. What's the reason? Not cool!

More of a sport later but i bet whoever it was has never caught a good hog without ears.  I have and luckly didn't have many issues getting them caught.
