I bought 100 square bails for $8.00 a bail about 3 weeks ago for good quality horse hay. Its going for $10 a bail at most places.
Good hay but the only problem I had with it is that it was cut short and the bails bust easy when handling. More dusty than usual too.

I couldnt tell you but you would probably have to take out a loan to buy em in Texas right now.
Hay is getting stolen out of barns and round bails out of field fields right now in Texas. Seen it on the news and the local papers.
Mike Im in SE Texas between Conroe and Magnolia.

$100-&130 for large round bales in Texas and there is allot of crap floating around thats not worth $25 dollard in actuall feed value. Thats priced way out of the cow market for sure. The only thing a cow man can do now if he didn't produce his own is buy alfalfa from up north. Its not cheap but atleast you are feeding something worthwhile.

$8 to $10 a sq. bale in central Tx. area compared to $4-$5 bale normally. I keep hearing talk of people going out of state to bring in some surplus from other areas and make a little money, wish some more would ship in more from other states to help out Tx. i know we've done the same for others in the past.

I know a guy who has baled 2000 bales up here in Oklahoma and has shipped it all to Texas for $50 a bale, the buyer pays to have it hauled. He is baling stuff that I wouldn't feed a goat.

Saw rolls of haygrazer on Craigslist (Lubbock) today, $200. Thing is, I didn't see a single stalk of haygrazer all year, so it's either old or been hauled in. Feed store did have some pretty decent 60 lb. squares of alfalfa for $14 last week. Sad to say but the quality and price made that a "bargain" right now. If I had the time I'd be hauling it into Texas and making a killing.

Went to Denham Springs LA yesterday to pick up last load of my family round bales purchased. It was cheaper for us to broker our own hay, buy a 30ft trailer and make 5 trips to buy and haul, 12 hour round trip on 4 ft round bales of bahaia grass.
No square bales for us this year, Feed stores have started selling chopped hay mixes in 30 lb bags with guaranteed nutrition content analysis for equines. some have molasses added some have soybean oil. For our miniatures show animals this is what they will be eating as I can transport it. Different formulas for different dietary needs, fits my feeding program and is sealed in plastic bag dont have to worry about mildewm, its light enough I can handle. Its also endorsed by Chris Cox, I know whoopee! Its gonna have to work this year as I wont have to feed as much to keep them maintained.
