How do y'all like it so far? Better range?

What about the bird's eye view? I just got mine in and this is the main feature that attracted me to it.

You know i really like the system over all.  A big step from the 220.  My personal downfalls for the astro 320 consists of the download time for the 'birds eye' and the subscripton price.  yes its only $30 dollars but the principal of the matter really bothers me.  Infact the birds eye view really isnt nessesscary, but a nice feature.  I have the topo maps too and those i find more usefull for where i hunt but over all i find it to be a great upgrade.  With that being said, i do think the DC 40 collars are garbage!! I bought 2 extra DC 30s before they discontinued.  I find them to be a lot more 'hardy' and a better balanced collar than the 40.  I bought one DC40 and the last DC40 ill ever own, the GPS reciever is one unit rather than seperate from the DC30.  I seem to have to do a hard reset for the 40 more often and seem to loose signal.  I have upgraded all my antennas to long range whip antennas, but i give the DC 40 a -2 in my book.

Astro 320 i give a solid 8!

I bought one but have only used it one time. It only lost communication one time and that was at 1.7.
It picked it right back up.  Dogs got out to 2.4 and it was still tracking em. I only dc 40s. Haven't had any bad luck with them yet but their brand new.

I want to upgrade to the 320 this Christmas after using the 220 for almost 2 years now.  I have 4 of the DC30's and 2 of the DC40's.  I'm not impressed with the range of either collar and find it ridiculous that we pay as much as we do for a unit and the only way to get decent range is by UPGRADING to better antennas.   I think that's bull.  Garmin should be selling these things with the best antenna they can put on it and not make us have to spend more money just to get better reception from something that should already be getting good reception.   Angry
I read today where they came out with a new, improved DC40 in September and it's supposed to be better than the older models?

I sold all of my old gear, so I can only go forward with what I got now.

I like mine a lot. It comes in very handy. I use it for other things too like as a blunt object.

I've got several 30's and two 40's. The first 40 I bought worked well for about a dozen or so hunts, then it started dropping signal at 500 yards. After trouble shooting with Garmin, I ended up sending it in for a replacement. The new one they sent seems to be working fine with my old 220.

I think the older 220's don't work very well with the newer collars... even with the updates. That's what I'm hearing from a lot of people I talk to.

I love the fact that the 320 downloads the collar updates directly to the unit.  You can then use that Astro 320 in the woods to update anyone's collars that asks you to do so.  It is very handy.  Many cool features on this new model.  I'm glad I upgraded.   Grin
