Nick (shsu11) invited Marshall Mims and I to go hunting up in Buffalo this past Thursday..

Lexi

few of my degenerates

left to right: Lexi, Libby, Briar, Mikey, Boogie

It had been a long while since I've hunted so it was good to get out and see the dogs start working again. It was perfect conditions with a rain all night, so we planned on track hunting or at least trying to

We dropped Nick's Tex and Bob down, along with boarninja's Thorn, my Briar and big E's Mikey dog.. It wasn't long before Briar opened up and within a few minutes Mikey was hammering and everything sat down bayed. Turned both young bull dogs loose only to have them get hung up and the hog broke just as they arrived. He carried the dogs about a 100 yards to a bad brush pile where the dogs bayed again and the CD's got there in time. Nick caught him and we drug him out, removed his jewels, a length of tail and sent him on his way. He was around a 150 # boar hog

150 boar

Some Dogs were tired and cut up so I headed back to switch out a few dogs. We crossed some good tracks on the way back to the truck and big'e's boogie was going crazy on the 4 wheeler. We cut him loose and he beelined straight in a half mile and bayed. By then I had gotten back with Andy,  Lexi, Drake and Libby. We turned them to the bay just as it broke. The dogs carried it about 3/4 of mile before they sat him down. I was on foot and Nick beat me to the hog and had it flipped as Marshall and I got there. Turned both bulldogs loose but wasn't much help needed as Boogie, Drake and Libby had him caught. Didn't get a weight on him but he in the 300 range and a solid Barr hog.

Boogie and Tex rolled way off and bayed at 1.6 miles we got to them just as the hog broke. Hour and half later we cut Drake and Boogie off as dark was fast approaching.

Not a bad hunt considering everything has been on a chain for a few months. It was good to listen to a race again. Enjoy

Haha well.. If the girls in hog hunting looked like the girls in CrossFit that would be a much easier decision.. I try to balance the two as efficiently as possible, crossfit makes the work aspect of hog hunting so much easier

Nice hogs and some dang good looking dogs.

Thanks buddy!

Thanks Ben! You are right Boogie is as legit a Hog Dog as they come. He is a pleasure to be able to hunt behind.. Lexi is as fast as I've seen, just young and still a novice. I expect huge things from her though

1/2 old stock black cur dog 1/4 walker 1/8 bmc, 1/8 pit... Confirmation wise, built as well as I can want, brains, lots of hunt, works the back end of a hog real well, lots of bottom and want! Runs a track blisteringly fast, still young though.. Hopefully she'll finish on out and I'll cross her back into the old cur line with something compareable speed with just a little tighter mouth. That would be her only draw back so far is she can get a touch lippy but it is a common trait with this line and gyps.

Merry Christmas,

Glad you could get the dogs out... That Lexi is sexy, she looks like she is built for speed, she's definitely ready to go hunting judging from the picture, lol. You and your dogs always seem to put it together. Take care brother...
