I had my daughter get real sick but the doctors did not know why. We were in the hospital and she just wanted to go home because she hated it. I hate hospitals too. I asked the doctors and they said she would get dehydrated. So they wanted to keep her on an IV. I just thought what would I do if it was my dog and knew I would stay up around the clock putting fluids in the dog. So I told them we would take her home and just bring her in for tests. My wife gave my girl a cup of Gatorade and she threw it up. So my wife wanted to take her back to the hospital. I asked for four hours and I would have fluids in her and no throwing up. I got home and got Gatorade, a medicine cup, and a one minute egg timer. I gave her one medicine cup of Gatorade and set the timer. I made sure she only got one medicine cup no less than one minute apart. Drinking too fast will upset the stomach. I slept next to her bed so if she got thirsty I was there. I only left to take a shower or get food. My wife was amazed at how much better she felt than being in the hospital and told me how nice it was for me to do it. I just said I would do it for my dogs so I will do it for my kids. My daughter is better but no idea why she was so sick.

To me it sounds like your one heck of a good dad and you do it right. People seem to feel better at home than in a hospital, and having her dad there beside her all night instead of a nurse that she dont know is also a big comfort.
And treating your dogs in the same way also shows alot of the man you are.

Sorry to hear that Dub! That's really cool that you did that for your daughter. When my little girl is sick it kills me! I try to everything in my power and sometimes it's never enough... When my daughter was born she was premature... Had to be care flighted to Baylor in Dallas and moma didn't even get to hold her after birth. I beat the helicopter to Dallas which is an hour drive for me(wasn't then Grin) and I sat in the NNICU for 5days... With my wife an hour away the whole time killed me! But just goes to show you the extent that we will go for our children... Funny thing is, when I had my Diablo's leg cut off because of that boar... I couldn't sleep a wink... The day he got home I spent hours in the garage with him, and could feel his pain. Shaking and winning. But in the end, it makes you and the other party feel better knowing that you put in that time whether it is a dog or you offspring. Good post Dub!

I hope your little girl is still feeling better and she has quite a dad.  There is nothing that leaves you feeling helpless as a sick child and to put common sense before emotions is hard. Glad all turned out well.!!!!!!!!!!

I spent a few weeks nursing her of course my wife was right there too and I can't take all the credit. I just knew how to take care of dehydration. Now she is back to telling me I do not understand girl stuff. She is only five so I will have my hands full with this one She wants Mom to take care of her now, the way it should be. So I get to go back to being daddy.
