I need some help with a foot injury on one of my dogs. I'm not sure what happened, but my dog cut one if her pads pretty bad. The best way to describe the wound is if she was standing flat on the ground, and you took a knife and slid it between the bottom of her actual foot and the ground. About half way through her pad she has about an 1/2 in. Cut. That kind of lays the pad open. I washed it out with the hose, real good but what do I need to from there. Wrap it, not wrap it? Creams, ointments, sprays, antibiotics? I wouldn't worry much about it usual but a lot of dirt and little rocks and stuff keep getting in the wound since it's a little pocket. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

if its not to deep i would trim the skin off and treat it like a blown pad, just wash it and make sure there is nothing on it and then just superglue it

The way it is though it goes right through the center of her pad. Like your slicing it in half. So it'd be quite a large chunk of flesh to cut off.

If you have an off the ground kennel put her in there for a few days to keep mud and dirt out. Try super glue on the edge of the cut as you hold the pad together. Try not to soak it deep into the wound. You can make you a temp rubber boot from a tire intertube to keep the dirt out. Just wrap and tire around the top of her paw....just dont cut the cirrculation off. And soak it daily with cut n heal.

Thanks YBM I'll give the glue and boot a shot if she'll keep it on. And it's all dirt floor kennels so no luck there. Thanks for the advice.
