charge a 1.50 a loaded mile or what ever will pay for your fuel to houston and back which ever will allow the fuel not to come all out of your pocket.

Why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away? An elected legislature can trample a man's rights as easily as a king can!

John,
I charge $3.75 per loaded mile on any dedicated runs these days. 688 miles = $2580.00 I would consider taking the $2580.00 then subtract what you and Stacy have been paying in air fare to Houston, then haul it for that.
That said, the buyer can probably find a much cheaper rate using uship.com and finding someone looking for a backhaul, or going with an equine transport company that is putting together loads.

Charles,
I used to haul for $1.25-1.75 per loaded mile, but fuel was 1.00 per gallon, tires were $100.00 each, and trucks were ~$30,000
Again, these prices are for dedicated / hot shot type runs. Someone putting together LTL type or backhaul loads will probably do it for much less per mile.
