can a man buy that kind of land down there worth the money to run cattle on ?
what about the government ? is it better or worse than the u s as far as being able to do things the way you want ?
what about the wild cattle ? can anybody catch and sell them ? what do they bring a pound ?
rockin roo or any other aussies feel free to chime in .

yes with approval you can buy this sort of country harvard university own right next door this high country is in the maniatoto area of the south island and is suited for marino sheep or venison production we realy dont have wild cattle here as such.but yes we sure have plenty of beef farms that have most of the breeds except the likes of the texas long horn and bramin types the two main breeds are angus ans hereford most land suited to cattle is under huge presure from intensive dairying and heiffer grazing

Pigrig, Do you find it better hunting the high or the low country? For pigs the lower its seems easier on my body but the higher is better for cats, bear and ungulates.

mate ive looked under every rock in the high country and the low but there aint no dam bears or big cats in new zealand but yes 80% of my pig hunting is in low alpine areas of native bush/pine forrestry/farms .that high country in the photos was covered in snow this week as the southern hemisphere approaches its winter .sure woud love to hunt those bears
