Completely stock I would go with a sammi or Chevy truck. I've had better experiences in Sammie and Chevys than in anything else. Now my favorite rig has to be my 80 Chevy single wheel 1 ton big block with 44in superswampers. I've pretty much built every brand from the ground up so If you have a question hit me up.

79-83 toyota 20r or 22r(e)(T) engines. toughest trucks built in a long time, run for ever, go any where and don't use much fuel. I own 2 and am always looking for more close to home. Bought one for $500 the other for $700. Pretty tuff to beat at that price for sure. But love older American stuff when they were built with pride and steel.

God Bless, Waylon.

Even though that question was for your 14 year old grandson ( who im sure has no license ) , i will take your answer...

Instead of going through 20 junky Fords, you could have gotten a Toyota and would only have gone through 1 or 2...  Grin

Dognhogs84 and almost his entire family run corndog stands... Most of them have Fords...

Each time we go by the Ford dealership, he can point out a Ford that his family had traded in, and can tell you what kept going out or breaking down on them... He just bought a BRAND NEW one this year and already the motor is being torn apart at the dealership...

And not sure how much truth is behind this, but was told that Ford is on their last leg with the diesel motors...

I have heard that the newer model Ford gas trucks are pretty tough ( 04 or 05 and up I believe ), but i wouldnt own an older one..

the reason i owned so many fords is the job i had i put over 125,000 miles a year on one so i had to up grade every year. never had no major problem,s out of them.

i have a 83 4-4 with a 300 6 in it every thing work,s on it even the seat belt buzzer and light.  i have a 7.3 power stroke .  they don,t make a better diesel motor.  i would not own a 6.o

but toyota has had it,s problem,s with it,s newer ons to rember all the lawsuits.

and my son has a toyota  i could not aford the gas for it a 5.6

i am not a ford man, and will never own another 1, but the 7.3 and the 7.3 turbo, non pwerstroke is a motor that can not be beat, not even by the cummins and i am a cummins fan.

they had a 6.9, 7.3, 7.3 turbo and then the 7.3 turbo powerstroke. the 6.9, 7.3 and 7.3 turbo all had mechanical injection, not oil psi opening injection. the powerjunk had an additional high pressure oil pump to open the injector during injection sequence. the 7.3 turbo was the last true navistar diesel engine ford used and was nothing more than a 6.9 bored/punched out to 7.3L. i used to have a ford dually that had a 7.3 non turbo
