My question is how do you keep your bay dogs close to your strike dog. we bought these dogs from different people n my main strike dog does not have a loud bark so it is hard to hear her when she gets on one. Plus she is getting older and having trouble keepin up with the runners. So got a couple younger faster bay dogs but theu wont stay with her

Kennel them together and see if that helps... Dogs have better hearing, and they should be able to hear her even when you cant sometimes...  |

They been in same kennel for bout a month now. Which n turn cuased n accidental breeding lol.. but atleast they will b full blood catahoula..

Yeah if ur gyp was in heat it's surprising u had trouble keeping them together LOL. JK. Anyhow I agree with wilbanks, dogs hear things we never will. But to add some of my most humble opinion and I don't know if any of these situations apply but when u have too many " helper" type or young dogs on the ground at one time it signals play time. Sometimes a young dog will follow an older dog not knowing that the older dog isn't really putting out. Also it may just be that ur dogs won't honor the new dog......yet. With an opinion comes advice so here it is. Be honest with yourself and choose from your dogs who u think has the most potential and hunt it with your finished strike dog. Then put the others down only on a hot track or a bay. Then they can learn to trust the new dog because one of your dogs trust it.

Why would you want them to stay together? They cover more ground and over lap if not together. Try only running two dogs and put a tracking collar on the dog and wait for it to say bayed. My dogs are together all the time. They may be in different kennels but they are connected. When a dog escapes the kennel most of the time it is into the other kennel and not to get away. They only bust out when another dog is running free. A couple months is nothing. Just keep them together and hunt them together.
