I am looking for ideas for a dog box to go in the back of a Toyota Tacoma, or any mid-size truck.  Lets see em.  Thanks

There is one in particular that I have seen before that I cant find now.  It was in a silver Tacoma.

Here is one that I built a few years ago for an old Yota that I had.  It worked pretty good.  Regretfully I just threw in a dumpster because I had no use for it, then I went and got a different yota and needed it again.  Story of my life  Cool

Matt,
I really like the pic of that 1\2box on your old Yota.  I am gonna do that on my next Tacoma; only slide it to the front so I still have some bed space.

Thanks Matt.  That was the one I was thinking of, but I think your old setup may suit me a little better.  Ill just mount it flush against the cab like longshot is talking about

Not the best but here's mine, it's 4'6" wide, 2' deep and 2' tall. 2 dogs REALLY comfortably or four dogs total. The other sliver Taco's box I like better and wish I'd done it that way, but mine one person can take out and it can double as a job box (Expanded metal all round)

Yeah after I put it on I wished I had mounted it against the cab, wished I still had it, I'd give it to you.  It is really easy to build though.  I built another one later for a 3/4 Chevy and put it right behind the tool box with the door on the passenger side, not in the middle.

Yea but the nice thing about having it in the back it's easier to open the doors and get dogs out. If it's against the toolbox or front of the bed you got to move stuff to get in it. BUT I also got a hitch basket so pigs go on it more then anything

If you'll notice in the link that Matt posted of my box, as well as on JSEAY's box, the doors are the height of the box.
I've seen some nice boxes with little bitty doors, and never understood that, I just like as big of a door as possible.
Never know what you might wind up having to load or unload. Just my $.02 with change left over. Grin

Matt,

I use a little yota, 87 model, that is very similar to that one and it suprised me the places you can get with them.  I wish it was extended cab like that one so I could stretch my legs a bit more.  Cant believe you got rid of it.  They are handy and really nice when it is freezing out!

I wont call it a Toyota box but here is a box a guy built for me that lives near Rockwall.  I needed a box for hauling dogs from the cold of Indiana to the warmth of Texas when hunting so he came up with this idea.  They are removable and leaves room to move on side of box.

It is blue line emt !!! what i do is i tack everything first make sure it is all square then i braze the entire box. I have built a lot of dog boxes.. Hell in that case i have built a lot of stuff out of Blue line ..( airboats , buggy's, hog trailers, dog boxes.. ect....) And brazing is the way to go It flexes and the welds wont crack!!!!   I wish there was some kind market for those dog boxes cause they last forever and i would build them and sell em!!!! but you could never make any money on them .. For what i would have to sell one to make any money a man could go out and buy a sweet ass aluminum box...

But i like mine and enjoy building them ... When they get a lil wore out i sell em for what it cost to build another one .. and start over ....

thanks for the props ..  it took a lil bit to get em figured out. everytime i do something different i think they look preety good now myself i get a lot of compliments....
