Me and a buddy ran the dogs last night and my year old redbone Bmc cross got on a decent size boar and got hit in the back leg on the muscle . It was a straight in puncture about inch deep. He was ok until we got out of the woods and now its real swollen all the way down his leg and foot and black stuff is mixed in with the blood that comes out when I clean it. Any idea what I should do or should I just keep it clean and watch it

Keep it clean......rinse with water for 5-10mins 3 times a day spray vetericyn on it after every rinse, it'll be good in no time, dex will knock the swelling down but it should go down witnin a day or two.

The question I have is this... Is the swelling
due to infection or blood???

Vetericyn can be found in most feed stores,  i get it at tsc. I like it far more than cut n heal.

with cut heal 3 times a day the scar will be small and no need for stitches unless the cavity is cut open...
