Thank you all for your kind words. He was as honest as they come. Never barked unless he was looking at pork. No trashing, just straight business on the swine. It hurts now, but in time will fade. As Del Cameron stated in his "Call of the Hounds" book, "Such was the destiny of this hound.". Very sad, but very true. Pistol gave his all, and his time came too soon. Loved you boy.

I was at the kennels last night with my daughter who is almost 3 years old. I found a chick that had hatched but died. Emily asked me what it was when I reached down to pick it up. I told her it was a chick, but he was dead. She looked up at me. She said "dead like Pistol?". I said yes. Then she said, " I miss him". Tough pill to swallow right there. She still calls his kennel stall "Pistol's pen". I love that girl. I aim to find Emily a nice pup soon. I've got my eyes on the prowl.
