I just got a 3500 single rear wheel 4x4 with 6spd auto. For those of you who have either the 2500 or 3500 with similar set up. What r yaw averaging on the mpg? The day i got it, it had 97 miles on the odometer n 3 miles on the trip. I put another 150ish or a lil more on it n then filled it up. I did the math n it came to nearly 22mpg, but these last 3 tanks, my mpg was 15-16. I put 90 miles a day round trip with 90% hwy n the rest running around on ft hood. I know hwy mpg varies from city mpg n i have tried keeping it 70 n under with no a/c, no exhaust brake n being real easy acceleration n iv ran it with a/c, exhaust brake engaged, 70 n under n med acceleration n my mpg has not changed. Any ideas on increasing mpg w/o doin a lot of mods? Anything done to it will be at the dealer so i can maintain my warrenty, so what hav yaw done to increase the mpg?

Mine is an eleven 2500 4x4 and I stretched out on the highway the other day and the best I got was fifteen and a half. The only thing done to my truck is one size bigger tires. I want to do the deletes but don't want to loose my warranty either. Hate to say it but I think we are just stuck with the sorry fuel mileage. I sure like my goats but knowing what I know now I would probably would of bought a Ford. Rode In one last night and man do they have power. Anyways good luck and if you figure out  a way to get more mileage and not loose your warranty, post it i would be interested in knowing what you did.

According to the dealership, they will put programmers, exhuasts n other mods and as long the dealer does it, you retain the warrenty. Well thats untill that def fluid is mandatory on these trucks, then changing the exhaust will be near impposible for a turbo back kit

From experience working in a dealership, it was a Ford dealership but same concept would probably apply. Anything you do to the vehicle other than proper maintenance can void the warranty. Believe me I have seen it. It all depends on the dealership and service department you are dealing with. When I was a tech I could have easily voided the warranty on numerous vehicles. Just be careful and get to know the guys at your local dealerships and feel them out before you do anything see how they view mods etc.

I aint doin a thing unless the dealership puts it in writing that they will honor the warrenty if they put certain mods on. The dealer where i got my tck said they would do a programmer n honor the warrenty. When i have it in writting, i will hav them do the work

No, my math was correct, i may hav a tx education, but i do know how divide. The milage was bound to be wrong. They probably filled it up n didnt reset the trip

I've got 6.7 2500 auto, buddy has 6.7 3500 manual dually. After the warranty ran dry I deleted the DPF, egr, put on a programmer and cold air intake. I get 18.5 or so on the highway buddy has about the same mods and gets about the same mileage. Before mods I got 13. Pulling a load is 13 or less. I put all mods on after warranty and at the same time so I don't know what helped the most.

i got 5yrs or 100,000 bumper to bumper warrenty, so its gonna b a while before i yank exhaust out, again unless no honor on warrenty, no can do. i will just have to deal with it till warrenty is up. i just got rid of my 06 5.9 with some mods, pushing close to 600hp and when i took big tires off, i went from 12-13 up to 15-17. i still had the lift, but before the lift and tires, i was getting 22-24 hwy and 18 city. im kinda kickn my self in the butt for trading it in on this new junk, but thhe rear end was about to grenade on me

Yea charles I hear ya I waited until after the warranty and just bitched about fuel milage. I don't know any one that gets as good as the old 5.9's. I know a guy with a 2012 ford who says he gets 22 empty but I'd have to calculate it myself to believe it. My overhead display always says I'm getting 22 or better
