Cut vest w/ floatation

Anyone had any experience with a cut vest thats got floatation in it?

Would like to know how or if it works? All opinions wanted.

Never heard of one. Man that sounds like it would be super hot and bulky and akward on a dog. Look up R and P Outfitters in Mansfield, La. on the internet. They sell a vest called a cool dog vest. It has 1/4 inch metal eyelets all over it . The eyelets allow water to pass through the vest without weighing them down and a tusk will not go throuhg it. They also allow ventilation which helps to keep a dog cool, you can even get them with pouches on the side that hold cold packs or you can put ice cubes in them to help your dog in the summer. You can get them in bay dog or catch dog style which has leg protector flaps. I've had two and really like them, some of my friends have them to and they are very pleased.

Lance, I appreciate yur reply, but its not quite what I am looking for.

My dog is not overheating, he cant swim. He has almost drown several times.

Hard core hog dogs makes a flotation vest, just curious if anyone has any experience with this type of vest.

I knew you were'nt talking about overheating, I was just stateing other benefits of the vest. When I was talking about water passing through the eyelets I was talking about when they are in a stock tank or river the water  does'nt weigh the vest down like some other brands do. I've seen horses that could'nt swim but never a dog. That's weird, can he swim without a vest ?

Just get some empty plastic bottles, fill them with low density foam, and attach them. Cheap and easy to replace.

Dub that is interesting.  Has me to thinking what about using something like a long balloon to put the foam in or something like that long and and narrow or somewhat kinda like a hot dog.  That could be attached to either side of a vest with out the chance of it getting caught up like a bottle.  I don't hunt around water much but interesting.

Hardcore hog dog has a HARDCORE FLOTATION KEVLAR VEST... Never used it just remember coming across it when i read your post.

Seen some at academy that are for duck dogs. Seemed sort of like a wet suit made out of neoprene. Might be able to wear under cut vest but then u have to deal with the heat

 if that r&p vest out mansfield has pockets on it for ice packs or what ever. why cant you sew on some linear pouches and fill it with expandalbe foam and then trim off what pushes out of the fill hole? you would need to put them close to the top so it dont flip the dog over on its back. if its his butt that is sinking, make sure you put more foam towards his back end but dont make it so bouyant in the back it pushes his head under water. if you know any1 in the fire dept that can get you some fire hose that has been damaged beyond repair and sew it to his exsisting vest n then fill it up a lil at a time and take him for a swim and adjust fire on how much foam and where to start n stop it.
