Understood why people correct manners.. I've seen a lot and been around a little while but politeness, kindness, and yes sir,no sir and yes mam, no mam, don't live around too much anymore. I understand it makes people feel older than what they feel like but I was raised a country boy manners runs deep within naturally.. You open the door for a lady and hold the door for a man. You eat with your hat off at the table etc. etc. just wondering if anyone else has this problem! No intentions were meant just been on my mind for a while..

It is rare around here as well. I get funny looks and get the "dont call me mam" line all the time....i always simply say "sorry, its the way i was raised"

I hate when people say "dont call me sir (or mam) I'm not old" cause my immediate response is always yes sir or yes mam lol. I was raised with good manners so it's kind of a habit but I also do it just out of respect for people.

I will say it has helped me out in a lot of ways.

I just tell the the person, "sorry, I am from Texas and I was raised with manners." I figure it is a polite way to insult their lack of manners. Grin

I had a lady here recently refuse to let me hold the door for her it's like around here the kids have older people trained she reached to open the door for me I politely told her I would go to another store cause my grand parents would beat me for walking in that door before her

I have no problem with those manners.  I practice most of them.  Well, I have never understood the hat thing, so I wear mine if I have one on, when I eat.

But, I am not offended when others don't.
