I don't know about hogs but I have seen them work cows and they are jam up. All the ones I have seen are real smart and more gritty than a border collie.

Once they figure out what you want them to do I think that they would be great.

AND they will go out and get an animal and herd it back to you. They don't just drive animals in a straight line.

I can get you a contact (actually hes my best friend and he lives by ft.worth ) that has a blonde kelpie stud that was imported and works. They ship his semen back to australia to keep his bloodline going and my friend tom is partnered on a couple of nice females that he breeds. I can also get you in touch with Roy cox,he lives up along the red river north of graham and has been breeding and selling straight working kelpies for many many years. I Can p.m you there numbers if you would like to follow it up some more with either of them.

Yes I would definatly like to do that I have been lookin for some time now for some does he have pups or strictly stud him out ?  N have u heard of a Australian koolie they say they are comparable to a kelpie I don't know a whole lot bout either one except they are good herding dogs that I wanna try to put in with my catahoula n hound crosses. But I am very interested in getting a couple female pups off of prime working stock

we never called them an australian coolie back home,we called them german coolies in australia and to me they looked just like the merle aussie shepards over here but more aathletic built like a kelpie. I will get those numbers to ya and as far as i know he doesnt have any pups at his house but may have some at his partners and im not sure what roy has right now.

I raise them, there was a guy on here hunting them crossed at one time but was running them in a pack with others (BMC lacy, etc.), I got the only female he had that was pure from him. He had them crossed with catahoula, Roy is a good guy and has tough dogs and a hell of a trainer, They will pretty much herd whatever you train them to, Most aren't going to have the nose you are looking for, I wouldn't think. They are similiar to Border Collies. I only have one that uses her nose consistently when she can't see the stock and actually a young male did today when I was working him but most use sight. On hogs I would think  most would be more of a help dog then a strike dog. If I can help you pm me your number and I will try to answer any questions for you.
