And tell em good bye.

What is y'all favorite technique to turn out a freshly barred hog?  Lets say there aren't any strong trees to climb.

When I hunted in the marsh alot when there wasn't any tree's you can roll them up on their back with all four feet up right against a bush are a cluster of grass or something and it'll take them a few seconds to realize the're not fouled and you have a chance to step behind something and get a head start ! LOL if you stand a hog up and hold it's tail  it will usually try to turn around and get ya for a minute but if you hang on until it starts to pull away from you to leave they usually won't turn back! there is exceptions of coarse and it's a good idea to have your buddy lead the catch dog off a ways so if he get's after ya you can run towards the bulldog and recatch him are just side step em and recatch it ! There's a 50/50 chance it's gonna get western !  Shocked LOL  Ain't nothin like  it except more of it!  Grin

If he's cuaght on a creek or rice canal ( which they usually are round here) then just turn them upside down and hang their head down where they'll roll off into the water.

Number two, untie them on a tailgate then roll them off and drive away.

Or, my personal favorite, tie a slipknot and put it around the one of the cloves of their front hooves and tie the other end to a fence or tree and run like heck. They'll eventually slip it or chew thru the string.

I have never been very keen of turning them loose though as it always freaks me out a wee bit at night

I have a couple miles of parachute cord.  I foul their feet up but don't tie any knots.  Then I get up and walk away, leaving the cord on the ground.

Some of the funniest hunting stories I have come from releasing hogs rather than catching them.

If sows had teeth like boar hogs, I'd be scarred from head to toe.

Duct tape works as good as any, but I can't seem to find it when I need it.

We are fortunate to have some public land to hunt. We try not to take too many off of there, but there are a few spots void of trees.

Mike can tell a funny story about me fighting off a big sow that had the entire end of my foot in her mouth shaking like a bulldog while I clung to a pine sappling for dear life  Grin

I always untie them, then I hold onto a front leg and lay down on the ground right beside them. Turn loose of the front leg and play dead. Works every time. You don't have to take my word for it. Try it yourself and you'll see. Just make sure a friend is filming. Grin

Lance,
That's a good idea, and I will use it next time I have a certain guest along with me. Wink  One of my sons friends is a big, burly, self proclaimed 21 year old tough guy.  He has been asking to go hunting, and this idea has his name all over it.  I recently got a water proof camera too.  Thank you very much for the post.

have the bulldog held by a buddy or tied to something a few feet away and hold its back legs like when your legging it and and Let go and GET MOVING  behind that bulldog should work unless you got a sucky bulldog lol
