Got a couple buddies, a case a beer, and my new trailer rig and headed out to Honey Grove Wednesday night to try and put the dogs on something. Took Mama Dog, 380, Jake, Red, Hunter, my 2 pups Jim and Jack and my catch dog Blue. Unloaded dogs and within 5 minutes we could hear Mama dog trail barking at about 450 yards, it was gonna be a good night. We get everything loaded up and Mama Dog and 380 are out about 650 and still moving so we started heading to them. We get about 400 yards out into the field we are hunting and hear Mama Dog and 380 start hammering away at 950 yards on a big group of hogs. As we shut off the four wheeler Red, and my pups take off to em. We fire back up and start towards the dogs and hear silence, hogs broke, we wait for about 5 more minutes and Mama Dog, 380, and Red start hammering down again about 650 yards out, so we head to em. We get to about 200 yards out and dismount the wheeler and break out Blue Dawg and head to the bay. About 100 yards out I kick Blue loose and we start hauling arse in behind him and hear the squeal...Caught Hog! We get to the catch and what do we see? My 7 month old pups right there on their first bay ever, one is caught with other dogs, and the other starts nipping when we leg the hog. Another first was my bulldgo caught on the snout, never seen him do that, after getting him off we knifed the hog, Blue had that hogs snout flapping like a flag. Even though the rest of the group got away it was a good hunt and it saved some for next time.
