Pros:

They hunt like Machines, they are insanely high up in the prey drive dept. They are as rough as any dog you will ever see, just ALOT smaller. They have zero quit.

Cons:

Copy and paste everything i just posted in the "pros" section here.

Lol, they are great little dogs, my last set were finding and catching hogs for me solo at 7 months old. Just a pain in the ass at the house lol, barkin, diggin, escaping etc etc. I have to keep mine on chains lol, they are escape artists.

To me the pros would be that they are quick, gritty, and get around in thick thick brush well. They also have a good nose on them and hunt very well.

Cons IMO would be that they can't keep up on long races in open terrain and sometimes might be too rough.
Sonetimes they are hard to break if trash too.

Hope that helps

the worst thing i have noticed about them is about the time they get trained and going pretty good they get killed. they dont seem to be able to take a cut like a curr sized dog and they are fighters they hold grudges on other dogs but other than that i like them, they are not for everybody

I love mine, but they have ups and downs. They start early, hunt hard and find pigs. They also have a little trouble in deep water, they are just short. Last week , my two had a boar bayed in the creek, he moved into deeper water, jagds took a second too long to get in front of him and he saw his chance and lit out.  They get cold a little easier than big dogs. They will try to catch until the pig cuts em up and they decide to back off a hair. They also may not back off,,,, last weekend tennhillbilly came down and we had some long races, by the garmin, it looked like my jagd and his plotts would bay for 5-10 min then we figured the jagd was getting too mouthy and bustin the bay.  Mine seem to work best with rough curs that will catch or if the jagd busts the bay, will help stop a runner quicker. Last, if you stop to talk strategy for a second, u better put jagds on leash, if they aint hunting, they are gonna start a scrap. But aint nothing like watching 4 or 5 of those lil piranhas working the woods.

Our Patterdales are the same way! If they aren't hunting, they have to be on a lead. Whenever we go on a run with our buddy and his curs, when it's time to load up, we have to grab the Patts first or they'll try to grab a cur, lol. They sound VERY similar in the way they are and how they hunt!

I can't wait to add one lil guy in particular to my team Cheesy

My thoughts as well I've owned several. I think i'de do my homework before i got one or you will have alot of dead 500.00 dollar jagds laying around. I really like buddy goatcher I've spoken to him several times. and read his post on jagd terrier forum for a long time. He has boar lines. I have also had a couple from the jones @ missouri blood trackers. My best dog is from them. I liked both. I had a female that killed my bmc pups and another time before that I had a bmc pup standing in back of truck with his head over the side and this crazy witch takes off and jump grabs his nose and upper lip and just swings and twist and growls like a pit bull.I didn't get her from the jones. My point is they better be bred by someone with some sense. They wont stop once their blood gets up.

My lil jag has a good nose on him an a lot of hunt but on a big hog when he gets there he can bust the bay and that pisses me off.

Terriers have NO off switch. They have no 'sense' per se.' If one can understand that, and learn to embrace it, they will make you some of the BEST hunting dogs you ever had.
