What ages do you all start your catch dogs? If you get them when they are puppies...We have 2 that are about 6 months old. I think they have almost all of their permanent teeth. We just didnt want to start them too early and get their teeth ripped out!!

Im no expert by no means , but I showed mine a hog at 5 months or so and figured out he was game and from then on worked on handle from dogs to people , cows ect. , at one year I started my first one , 20 months on my second , and have one now that is 16 months still working on handle  , I know he will catch and he is up, as for teeth you need to wait at least till there a year old or you may damage there teeth Iv been told

Ok. Thats what we have heard also, is to wait till they are a year. We have just been letting them out daily to run and play and get used to being around the other dogs, livestock, horses, people, etc. We had a small pig get out one day and they tried to run it down and catch it but their little legs were just too short!! They were about 3 mnths old!  LOL!!
We have some friends that keep telling us to bring them to their house and put them on a small pig. We didnt think they are ready. They think its ok if the pups just bark at the pig as long as they arent scared of it....IDK about yall but I dont want my future catch dogs barking at a pig at any age!!!!!
