They'll be ready on June 8th
This was a planned breeding but I'm picking up a couple pups from a couple other good breedings that are ready at the same time and If I keep more than 2 or 3 from this litter I won't be able to get them all started properly.
Sire is my BMC strike dog, Jasper. He is a young dog and still evolving but my description of him is accurate and current.
He's got a medium nose. He doesn't burn the woods up unless he is in a lot of sign. He is very thorough and has struck hogs other dogs have missed. He is short to medium range, 250-500 when he's the lead dog. When he's with a longer range dog he will get out and go as well. He's got A LOT of bottom/stick once he's seen a hog. On a bad hog in thick brush I watched him lose the hog (CD's got hung up on 3 separate releases) work the track back out and bay again....multiple times. That was the longest race he's been on and it was 3 1/2 hours. I cut him off/called him out. He weighs about 65lbs and is leggy and fast. He can suck a runner up on relatively open ground. His gritt is the only thing i would like to see improve. He will put his mouth on a small hog or sow to stop it and will catch with another dog on 100-150lb hogs, but a bigger or just rank Boar he gives to much space.
The Dam is my 1/2 Catahoula 1/4 Red Bone 1/4 Pitt help dog Bella. She is also young and rough as a Cobb.
She is hot to medium nosed and like Jasper she doesn't run crazy, she is thorough. She is short range out to 250. Like Jasper, She will stick on a hog once she has seen it. Problem is, she is real rough and thats not my style. It would eventually get either her or Jasper killed and for this reason I pretty much quit hunting her. I kept her specifically for this breeding.
This is a first time breeding and what I'm hoping is to get a mix of the two.
