I picked up a real nice mint 200 honda big red still had all the stickers a few month back.. It's one of the funnest things tk ride and It will tear up some mud! After I got it I noticed some rust spots popping up on the tank so I decided to sand and paint it over with some spray paint.. Well it ended up looking like $#!+ and was wondering of any of you knew of a metal gas tank in good condition laying around? I know they are hard to find an all. And I would hate to put the plastic gas tanks on it cause those are flat ugly

Take it to a mom and pop auto body place and let them repaint the tank. Buy some stickers for the big red from honda and it will look like a new one

Unless there is a hole you just sand it don real good. If it is pitted paint it with a good primer that fills holes. If not just use a good primer. A good sanding and priming are the most important part. Then just paint very light layers and wait about 10-15 minutes between layers of paint until it looks good. I like to then add a couple light layers of clear paint for some depth. Put the stickers on and you are good. If there are holes in the tank then clean out the fuel real real good. Sand it down and weld the holes or use some good metal body filler with a butane tourch. Then paint it. It is all about not getting in a hurry. But gas tanks are easy because they are small and you can take them off.
