Just wanted to tip my hat to one of the sponsors on ethd. I ordered the alpha system last week on Monday and talked to Buddy and asked if I could get the system before the weekend because I wanted to use it. Buddy Said he d do what he could no matter what it took it be there. Well Thursday I got off work and there sat on my front porch my new alpha and collars

I played with it some up at peaches in his pen but I was little under the influence haha. But from playin with it, it's Awesome. Has a oh chit option and the collars puts off a bright light and saves batter life.. Great touch screen and like the option to trash break em off stuff, and if you get split up with another alpha user you can track them like one of the dogs. Pretty near contraption

Seems to also get better range then the older system from seeing peaches and mike use it last weekend before I decided to get one. They consistently were picking up dogs over a mile all dat

I've had my Alpha for two weeks now and love it. Consistently get the dogs 1 to 1 1/2 miles and it picks them back up pretty quick when it does drop them. Having the Tri-Tronics incorporated into it is very nice... no more two collars and two hand helds as I always run shock collars on all my dogs. The battery save feature is nice, I think it gives you 18 or 20 more hours. The collar lights that you can turn on from the hand held is also a nice feature if you've ever had to track a downed dog in a thicket at night with just the Garmin.., the lights are very bright. Being able to link to your buddies hand helds and track them is a damn nice feature... I know lots of folks that have lost their 220's and 320's.

There's lots of other features also that I haven't had time to play with yet.

The battery saver alone sounds like it could be worth its weight in gold.

Yes sir only problem I could see that you might have is the cut collars aren't made for em you d have to put the collar behind the cut collar I guess

Colby....I've been thinking about that a while, I am going to take an old cut collar and cut a hole in it the size of the garmin collar and see if that will work. Maybe the collar and gear makers will make one with a small hole just big enough for the collar to fit in it.

The collars seem just as tough as the rest of the garmin stuff.

X2 I think the antennas look stronger than the older ones and are longer as if already "long range" antenna you d buy for the dc40
