heck just look for anything with smith's streak blood in it . which is hard to find a mnt. cur these days that don't have him in there some where  .  the kemmers are another line that are actually mnt. curs just bred up by Robert kemmer .

i'm sure Rueben will be on here shortly and send you in the right direction  lol  .

like any other breed...some good ones and some sorry ones out there...find a breeder that breeds the larger type...these usually have larger ear and longer legs...get one that comes from coon hound stock or better yet hog dog stock...these dogs are hard to beat when it comes to bottom and finding a hog...there are quite a few that are very open and others that are silent...most have a just right nose...not to hot and not too cold...there is a dog named briar mt dude that is nice and he has pups all over...get you one of his pups if you can..."Hillbilly" on this site might can hook you up with one or 2 pups from this dog...

mt dude is the great uncle to the pups, and the grandfather who is dudes brother is about as good as dude... the father to the pups is about as good as Dude and dudes brother so the bloodline is right...the potential is there for a great hog dog if you buy a pup...on the previous litter the pups are hunting at 6 months which are siblings but from another litter...I was fixing to go the dude route until I got these 2 dogs and the 2 parker/kemmer pups...hope this helps... keep in touch...Jason, enjoyed talking with you...

Dude looks like the dogs I have had in the past...about 55-60 pounds with good leg and ear...folks thought my dogs had plot in them...maybe so but it wasn't because of me...but a little hound usually helps some of them dogs that want to hunt but without a nose...in my opinion these dogs here will have the perfect nose for hog dogs...not too hot and not too cold...

he is a good looking dog !  but he favors more on the treeing cur side as far as looks go . the  [ hound ] influence shows strong in his blood .     lol that'll get the blue blooded mnt. cur folks a talking .  but any one with any sence at all knows these dogs were all a product of years nay century's of cur dogs and plots running together in the hills and valleys for the sole purpose of feeding and protecting folks . and after all back when all this was going on the plott dogs were still classified as no more than a cur dog line  .

I agree with you guys...he is a nice looking dog...the more I learn about this dog the more I know that whoever bred that dog did a good job because there are several dogs close up in relations to him that are top dogs for coon and squirrel...

yep...I like him too and I tried breeding an old female to him and she didn't take...then I was going to get me a few pups out of him and then a few mt curs with some of my old line fell in my lap so dropped that plan...I also had a kemmer that I bred to a parker and kept 2 males...I am happy with all 4 of these young dogs...there is a nephew to Dude that is about equal to Dude in performance and this young dogs sire is Dudes brother who is also equal to Dude...I requested an agreed to buy a pick pup out of one of those two males related to Dude and out of Dude...this would put me with a lot of Dudes blood right off the bat...might be more dog than this old man can keep up with if I can get a pup that's bred that way...  Grin

Halfbreed...the mt curs I had looked quite a bit like Dude but with a little longer nose it seems...either way they looked much alike...kind of like the old time mt curs...I really don't like some of those feisty looking mt curs that some folks are breeding today...I have heard that some folks are trying to breed more of that old houndier looking mt cur which are what I like...
