Blake had a semi-guided hunt scheduled for this morning. One of those deals where you take the guys out for a hunt but just as a favor...no money involved. 2 good ol boys and Marco from the Netherlands.

Met Blake and the boys at 5:15 and jumped on the road. Hit the hunting spot by 6:30 or so.

I brought Jasper and his daughter Abby (6 months) and CD Emmett. Blake brought Tater and Buck and CD Diva. Considering Jasper's performance on his last hunt there was no way he was getting out of the box before a hog was struck or daylight....whichever came first, lol. This was Abby's first hunt ever so she was staying in the box till we got the bulldogs out.

Anyway...about 15-20 minutes into the hunt Tater moves out with a purpose. He opens up shortly and Buck heads to him. I dropped Jasper and he lit out. The dogs all came bayed at about 960.

Drove around to them. We could only close to about 400 so we grabbed the bulldogs and I dropped Abby. The dogs were holding the bay real well and we closed to about 40 yards. Couldn't see the hog but I had a feeling it was decent. We unsnapped and Abby follows Diva and Emmett in. We hear the hit and head to them. It's a decent boar. Pretty Red and Black spotted.

Emmett and Diva were locked down and all the other dogs had a mouthful as well....even pup Abby was hangin off the nutts. Emmett took a decent cut to his right front leg...it was bleeding pretty good but stopped shortly.

I called Marco up to dispatch the hog. His first hog hunt, first knife kill. He loved it. He's got a good story to tell for a while. Lol

Well....of course as we are dispatching the Boar....Tater rolls out and gets on another. He took it over a mile before it came bayed. I snatched Jasper up...didn't think he would trash...figured he would go to Tater but I wasn't taking any chances. Making sure I get him back on track.

We have to drive around but we get within 200 and grab the bulldogs and again drop Abby. Close to 50 and unsnap...again Abby follows the bulldogs in. This one they have caught in a skinny creek. Really no room for more than 1 person so I drop in. Little deeper than what I thought... Bout waist deep, but it was fine. Boar was under control and I dispatched him no problem.

Of course Tater rolls out again but Emmett by this point was limping pretty good and was bleeding again. It didn't last long but he was pretty wore out. We catch up the rest of the dogs and it takes a whole but finally get Tater to come back as well.

Fun hunt with some good ol boys and a Dutchman.
