Different active ingredient than safeguard and a higher amount. It's a mix between a small dose of ivermectin and parzenquatel (sp). I wouldn't use it on pups.

you can use it as heart prevention as well...about 1/2 a cc's worth for a 50-100 pound dog per month...I give a little extra...

Bryant did the calculation a while back and if you give the proper amount for tape worms it is an overdose on the ivermec. |

I think Bryant did the calculation on Zimectrin Gold... the Equimax has more of the praziquantel. It's works great on tapes, I've used it for several years now.

I've done the math and posted it several times. I guess I'll never learn why folks don't use the correct meds for treating their dogs. Not only is it cheaper, but you can dose them correctly. None of that squirt of this or pinch of that BS.
Ivomec for heart worm prevention - .1 cc per 10 lbs of body weight
Praziquantel for tapes as needed (Fish Tapes) - 2.5 mg per lb of body weight
Strongid T for everything else. - 1 cc per 10 lbs body weight.

Bryant or mike, can 1 of yaw put the dosage regime on a pinned topic at the top of the general discussion page? then it can be viewed w/o havin to miss dose or guess or cant find it using the search engine.

nvr mind, there is a pinned worming on the hog on dogs topic page. sry for jumpin the gun before looking through the rest of the site, but maybe pinning it to the general page too might help. also, like the following quote says, this topic is brought up frequently too. maybe what to put in a cut/field kit topics.
I know yaw got yaws work cut out filtering through the site and keeping every1 in ck from dog deals gone sour to inadaquite info in the classified sections, plus ur daily put food on the table jobs, but the worming and cut kits do come up frequently. just a thought. |
