I did all that I don't have a card do I need to have a card in order for it to work

It is best to have a card and put the birdseye on the card and not on the system itself. This is according to Garmin and I have it this way on both of my Astro 320s and my Alpha.

If its the 320 u need the SD card if u have the alpha u can use the memory built in the alpha and don't need the SD card till u run out of memory

Yes u need sd card. Birdseye takes up alot of memory. Even if I had enough room on whatever unit I have I would still put it on a memory card. Putting it in internal memory will eat ur batteries up faster and slow your unit down
