Could be coccidiosis, I know there was a topic on here about parvo shots and depending on where their from and what brand they may have not been any good. The company who did the testing was A to Z vet supply, check them out.

yeah bo if you have given them the shots it is most likely cocci . go to the vet and get you some albon . or go to the feed store and get you some sulmet or better yet corrid . all these are cocci meds the sulmet is more of a preventive but has worked for me if given in time before all the protozoa multiply in the pups gut . I allways put my pups on the sulmet as soon as they start drinking water to prevent them from coming down with a dose of the cocci . it is real easy to prevent and a bottle only cost 10 or 11 dollars .

bowhunter if you know the symptoms of parvo you know the symptoms of cocci and the corona virus . that is why you here so many people complaining about getting bad shots from the feed store , when in actuality the shots were fine and they have a totally different problem . even when you call the vet and describe what is going on they will tell you it's parvo . unless they actually do a culture test they are just assuming as well . if I have given the pups a 5, 7 , or 8 way shot and the pups start going down hill with runny stoles and getting sickly I will dismiss parvo and start treating for coccidiosis . but like I said cocci is everywhere you have wild birds and chickens . it is easy to treat and easier to prevent , a tablespoon of sulmet to a gallon of water as soon as the pups start taking water and you won't have to deal with it .

We have free range fowl so we treat all out water pails with Sulmet each cleaning. The main way they diagnose parvo is by taking a stool sample and mixing it with a diluent and dropping drops of that onto a 'snap' test (looks like a heartworm test). Be aware if you very recently gave them a distemper/parvo booster, that could make for a false positive if they were to be tested for parvo. Be sure to let your vet know if you decided to have that done. Coccidiosis is a lot more common though than people think. I bet that's what it is. Hope your pups all turn out okay, whatever it is.

I put the pup down today when I got back from hunting. He had done laid down wouldn't hold his head up and was dehydrated. My buddy's come over today they have been around dogs for 40 years or so and think It was parvo. I hate it happened to one of these pups.

well you've been warned . I hope the rest will be ok . I would still put the rest on a cocci preventive just in case . I can't hurt and might prove helpful .

Yea I'm going to look in the sulmet. I have never seen any around here at the feed stores but I haven't been looking either. But let me ask you this halfbreed is that a tablespoon all the time year round or a one time thing and it's done. And what about old dogs do they need a little in their water too. Any tips on this would be very helpful.

If u got a vet u can buy iv bags and tubing from. Get a 1000ml bag and start them on a fast iv drip nxt time or if the remaining pups start to show signs. Dehydration is the big killer with parvo, dont know bout coccid. I had 3 pups come down with parvo, i would inject 100cc of saline every couple hrs and would shoot plain yogart down their throat a lil bit at a time till the 50cc syringe was empty (only got bout half that down their throat, the rest was over flow n wiped off their mouth). If they held thst down for more than 20min, i would inject 1 egg and a couple sardines next. I saved 2 of the 3 at that time and have saved several other litters after that. Hydration is the key though.

bo I keep it in the young dogs water at all times . it's ok to skip to every other week . the old dogs will get cocci but their systems can handle it , same as with mature chickens . it is just the young that haven't built up an immunity to it that it will take down fast . it is the dehydration from the scours that kills them. if you can keep them hydrated most all will pull through [ after medicating with a cocci drug ] I just use a large cattle stringe and pump the liquid under the skin around the neck area . I use a product called resorb for scouring calves it has glucose and electolites in powder form you mix with water .

Bo, u can go to revivalanimalhealth.com and they have albon, good people and good prices, i always keep so e on hand cuz u never know when u mite decide to have a litter, they'll give u all the details on how to mix it, but i use it on all my pups as preventative. Also, i've noticed with coccidiae, it seems the pups look "wormy" ,, belly kinda swells,, and they can sh!!t through a screen door,, foul smellin stuff. Good luck with the rest of em
