I'm wanting to swim some dogs for extra conditioning. Wondering how far to swim to get any good out of it.

swim them till you think you are going to have to go in and save them lol .  but actually swimming a dog doesn't take that long . if you notice them getting tired it's time to quit . there is no better form of conditioning for an animal or human than swimming it takes all of your muscles to swim and you work out muscles that normally lay dormant .

I had a old biotch scream at me on lake Conroe a few years back for letting my dog swim. Mine loved to swim as soon as the boat would stop. I would let him swim while i fished the bulkheads and then trowl over and tell him to load up. The old hag was yelling at me for forcing that poor dog to swim.. i politely told her where to put it.
