Nice find! Does your friend have the original? Would love to get a decent copy from the actual photo if possible. Will pay for it.

that's alright. I can print this one . . just thought the original might be a larger file or more clarity, etc. if this is the only copy it'll work. it is a great old pic. dog on the left with frosty mouth looks identical to a pic I have that is supposedly earliest known Plott family dog photo. thanks for sharing. and I'll return the favor . . . Youngest man ever elected Sherriff in the state of Texas. Mr. Lewis Woodruff of Cold Spring, Tx . . pictured in 1965 with the foundation of what was to become his well known line of Woodruff Black Mouth Curs! Gotta love them old timey yellow dogs, huh?

Great picture! Looks a lot different then the pix you see on the web now, with 10 "something" dogs and a handful of "doggers". An old picture with three good looking dogs and seven men is always great to see.

I was just having some fun T-Bob. Sort of a running joke with a grouchy old friend who is also a member of this site. I'm not knocking anyone or their dogs. Just seems like every line of yellow dogs I know of has black, blue, brindle and spotted dogs behind it . . and vise versa for Lacys and Catahoulas . . so I always get a kick when I hear folks discussing their purebred dogs or commenting that this type is awesome and that type sucks. I have several other pics of Woodruff and his dogs that his widow gave to me. The others are all yellow or black, both of which are considered (and can be registered as) acceptable BMC colors. But the spots mean they are cross bred! Nowhere else in the world (that I know of) uses lead or head dogs the way they are used in Texas and the surrounding ares . . so it's a hard pill for me to swallow that old timers developed three separate breeds within a few years of each other and all within a couple hundred mile radius. And if you believe the rhetoric . . . the Lacys don't even share ANY common ancestry with the other two. Anyway . . Lewis Woodruff (horseback in blue shirt) a few years later with a dog of a different color. Take a look at the woolly hair on that hog . . looks like a brown sheep.
