No issues here but we make our own. A good one sure can be hard to find though if you lack the resources.

Dog pound is a great place to find one.

Used to it was. Seems like so many people breeding culls nowadays it's hard to find a good one even at the pound.

There is always some old redneck guy in every county town who has some bull dogs chained up in his yard just whip in there and talk to them you can get lucky time to time

Getting a bulldog isn't hard just getting one that can do it by himself with no help I hunt a lot by myself and it's almost impossible to lead 2 cd to a bay I got one now that catches ok but where r the bulldogs that will die b 4 they let go

I hunt alot by myself also and have been n same predicament one time but now I usually always have 3 n the yard and carry two. If u put a good handle on em its not that bad or u can pay 300 bucks for one. Ive never had to buy one myself usually alot of ppl around that cant hardly give em away. Just cull hard

When u start talking dead game the search area changes. To find that it's gonna take a lot of trips or one lucky trip to the pound. Also probly take several trips to guys that raise good CD's. Then u have the game dog route which may give u one that will hang to the end but also may be holding something other than a hog. MR Bob on here has some pups out of his dog and one he got from Mrs LA. Can't remember title of thread but they are pups.

There are good dogs and good blood out there that fit this requirement. Time, patience, and research is what it takes to find them.

You will always hear people say bulldogs are a dime a dozen ...... Ya there are but good bulldogs are few an far between ,
I got lucky an got a pretty good one from a lady that Said he was to hyper for her

But I raised a pup that I just started out of some good bred APBT an I have had her on 3 hogs in the woods so far an she is doing great

I let mine see a little pig around 6 months then don't worry about them seeing a hog till they are a year , I get there handling riding in the box , all the noise, vest an everything eles they need to know about done before I take them to woods , that way when you get to woods an they hear dogs that they been playing with oh the yard an stuff barking they are going to go see what the heck they barking at an they are not worried about briars or vest or nothing they have seen it already they run right in an see the hog an go to work
I usually send them the first time about 5 seconds behind a grown catch dog just to make sure they will be able to follow an the hog should be getting caught right as the pup is getting there
Not saying this is right or wrong just the way I do it ,

Also a good bred bulldog is worth it's weight in gold , one that you can depend on hot cold rain or shine that has been bred to work for generations , it will prolly cost you but it will be worth it to have a durable hard working catch dog that will be ready to go to work in any conditions

I just had mine die last week and I'm looking around too. I had a "one out" bulldog that I could take all by himself and catch hogs but now I'm down to four young curs. Get worried taking them since the oldest is just now turning 9 months old. He was like their protector and I never worried about things going south when I had him with us. Just gotta find another and mold him/her to my style of hunting. Do t give up brother

We had one of our two get cut down first part of this year so I decided to add a 3rd one to the group.  Went through 4 before I found one that was worth keeping.  You can forget the pounds in N FL cause they want to come see your place and have a two page or more questionnaire to complete before they will let you get one.  Good luck.
