Anybody got one like this? We went and cought a big boar hog for the sherrifs office. The dog hit hard on the ear/head. Got a decent little cut on the leg. After we got the hog under control. I looked the dog over . Realized his cut wasnt as bad as i had thought. Loaded him up and went home. Put the hog in the pen and checked the dog again. Decided to check his teeth this time and realized one of his canine teeth had been broken out. The dog is only a year old. Anybody use one with a missing tooth? I have since then lost a hog with him. Heard the hog squealing and everything. But he still lost him. I really like the dog. Best temperment on a pit bull ive ever seen. He will let other male dogs eat with him. Even ones hes never met. Kids can climb all over him, pull his ears and tail and he dont care. If i say load up he jumps in the truck so fast he slides into the box...just an all around good dog.

I have a pit that is missing a k9 tooth and I haven't lost a hog yet. He lost his when two running catch dogs were caught on ears he caught on jaw which shoved his tooth through the roof of his mouth. From what I seen it has not phased him.

I have hunted with a CD that only had 1 K9 in its head. That dog still caught. I don't put a cd on any hog bigger than itself till after a year to help prevent this. The way I understand their teeth set at around a year. Before that they are not tight in the socket and may pull out faster. If the dog is only missing one I would continue to hunt it.

yep you start catching hogs on a regular basis with a yearling this is what will happen , my bulldog busted a canine trying to eat through a cow panel to get at a gyp in heat but can still catch solid with what he's got left . I'd imagine he just missed the hog when he tried to catch [ it happens occasionally in the thick brush .

K9 teeth are not made for holding. My old female only has two left. The bite should be in rear teeth (molars).

Every catch dog I've ever had has lost it's teeth at some point. If the teeth last until the dog is 6 I feel it's done well. Mind you I've had dogs that could catch with no canine teeth.

My CD is 2 years old and has 3 of his canines chipped off pretty good. Never lost a hog with him. I agree with cantexduck that a dog catches with his rear teeth not his front. A CD shouldnt lose a hog if he is caught, unless he gets knocked off by a tree or gets hung up. Every good CD has missed a hog at least once, thats different, but when he catches he better stay caught.
