Unless ur running in nothing but open land, don't build it any wider than ur a/utv. I found that having a 2 compartment trailer is better than a single, especially if ur planning on putting more than 1 hog at a time in it. I built mine with a guilatine gate dividing the big compartment from the small compartment, using the small one for untieing the hogs to restrict their movement. Plus made a step down deck for dogs, gear, water, fuel, additional rider or whatever I wanna put on it.

We just rebuilt a lil trailer and made it 2 compartment. At the back the gate slides both ways so you can go in either compartment. Up near the front we made a slide gate that pulls forward so you never need to put your hands inside. Front and back we used expanded metal so they cant pop the weld like they do on 4x4 panel sometimes. This thing is 42" wide and 60" long. It pulls pretty easy for a wheeler or Ute.

Only thing I am going to do different is the mile slid gate so you don't have to stick your hand or something in there to open and close it
