Got a invite to hunt with a buddy of mine on one of his places, and he wanted me to bring my dogs and he would bring his catchdog. Are weather has been summer hot, with temps in the 90's and humid so I was really wanting to get the hunt done before it got to hot!!

Met my buddy and his girlfriend and went to are first spot and dropped the dogs. The Dogs  hunted the first block with nothing to show for it. Loaded them up and went to another area. We figured the hogs would be bedded around water so we were going to a area that had some flag ponds in the middle of some big palmetto flats. The flag ponds are surrounded by willows, briars and its nasty thick.

Cut the dogs out and they motor off into the palmettoes! I check the map on my Garmin and it shows the dogs in the middle of the flat going around the flag ponds about 800yds away. Start heading in their direction to close up the gap when I thought I heard a bark. Stop and we hear nothing but continue to the dogs with them showing treed and on point! Get to about 300yds and can now hear Gator baying but thats it! I figured Blaze was caught because the Garmin showed them together, so I hauled a$$ to the pond through the jungle. Get down to the pond and can hear a fight out in it, but its so thick I can not see crap!! Start heading out in the water when I hear, then see the hog and my dogs through the willows!! All I see is 3-4" cutters, big witters, and the hog swimming with my dogs on his ear!! They go under some tree limbs and when they pop up, the dogs had to let go and the hog is standing up in the water 15ft away, popping his teeth and not looking to happy! He should of worried about the dogs and not me, cause they slam him again and I shoot in and leg him!

Did not want to drown him, but I did not want my dogs messed up either!! So I was trying to pull him to the bank, keep his nose above water, with the dogs in tow! Sunk down in the stinky mud and was getting wrapped up in the vines, but was able to finally get him on land and hobbled!! Took pictures and moved on to the next area. Gator and Blaze split and Gator was closer going around another flag pond. Worked are way to him and thought he was hanging out in the water getting a drink or cooling off, so I went to him. I got to with in 50yds when I saw gator jumping down the embankment and he vanished in the thickness. I keep watching where he went when I hear and see him jump a big black and red hog!! They fought for awhile, and the hog flipped Gator over and the race was on!! Well 45 minutes later Gator comes back and has a good cut in his stiffle, and its getting real hot! My buddy takes Gator back to the truck while I go and get Blaze a mile away! Great hunt with my buddy and his girlfriend!!
