Saturday, May 2nd...the Kentucky Derby will run...It is like the super bowl for me...

it only gets better if the Kentucky derby winner wins the Preakness...then I will really have something to look forward to...I would like to see another triple crown champion...it has been 37 years since the last one...have had quite a few win the first 2 races and some have lost the Belmont by a nose and those are forgotten...

The Belmont is 1.5 miles so no one can ever know until that race is about over who will win that race...unless we are talking about Secretatiat...his name should of been "WARHORSE"...

American Pharoah is the favorite...I am a fair weather fan...I usually learn about the horses in the previews...  Grin

my hope is whoever wins the Derby will win the Preakness that way it becomes a hot topic with the media...and it is something to look forward to...

my hope is to someday see another Secretariat...

The top 3 ranked horses came in the top 3...American Pharaoh came In first as ranked...the third ranked horse Firing Line came in second. ..the second ranked horse came in third whose name is Dortmund...Dortmund is a good looking horse and I thought he would win based on his looks...seems like he was giving out towards the end...it was a very good race...I hope American Pharaoh wins the Preakness...

We will never see another Secretariat or a horse close to being like him again. I highly doubt I will see a triple crown winner in my lifetime.

its going to be these horses in the bottom three.
American Pharaoh
Dortmund
Firing line.
Doubt he wins the triple crown he was struggling in the derby. Chrome had what it took last year but blew out the box and got boxed in.

for the Preakness this coming Saturday I will make my guess like this...

1. American Pharoah
2. Firing Line
3. Frosted
4. Dortmund

I liked the looks of Dortmund the best but he was faltering towards the end of the Derby...I am pulling for American Pharoah just so we can have something to look forward to in the Belmont...

Yes sir. I sure was hoping firing line was gunna win the derby. Greg Stevens is his jockey. He has rode some great ones in his 52 years. But Victor Espinoza rode chrome last year and is riding pharaoh this year. Lets just hope he doesn't do what he did  in Belmont last year. He will have it cut out for him. Haven't heard much on the frosted horse. I'm just going by the highest earnings they are usually the ones that win the race.

If we get a triple crown winner in the future I feel it will be a home grown no name type horse that wins. Not one of the big money big racing name stables.

American Pharaoh made it look easy...he runs so smoothly like there is no wasted energy...I think Dortmund came in 4th and Firing line fail way to the back...

So now we have a potential triple crown winner...

Part of his makin it look easy was a nice ride by the jockey. Getting out front in the mud is usually a good thing. He did look impressive!

I was impressed he was able to hurry him out off the gate, settle him down and then had more to ask for in the end. Hope he wins the Belmont

next Saturday maybe the History books will be rewritten when it comes to the Triple Crown... at least 11 horses have won the first two legs but have failed at the Belmont...the Belmont is 11/2 miles,  the Kentucky Derby is 11/4 miles, and the Preakness is 13/16ths  miles...

there are several theories as to why it has been hard to win...some horse owners will not run the Preakness to rest their horses...and now we have more horses competing in the Belmont than ever before so that makes it a tougher playing field...so the competition is quite higher...there are other theories out there as well...

there have been a few horses that lost the triple crown by a nose but those horses are forgotten as well...

I am hoping for American Pharaoh to win the triple crown...
