The dang rain has finally quit ( for now anyway). Stupid me built my hog pen along the river and I thought I was going to have to trailer my hogs and bring them to higher ground last night. I stayed up till 1am back and fourth checking the water level. It did rise Into the pen a little but thankfully not to bad. This river is usually only knee to waist deep and down in 10 to 15 foot banks. This gate is to block off my cows that kept getting in and walking upstream and escaping.  Its usually no where near the water.

Join the club. We got a recordable 15" minimum over a couple days here in the temple tx area. The wife said we got at least 6" in 1 day and that's not counting what could have spilled over the top of the gauge. I-35 in Troy was 8-10' under water and traffic diverted to the feeder roads. A creek near the house that normally has a 10-12' bank was out of its bank. Looking at debris piled along a fence running adjacent to to the creek was 2' up from the ground, which should have made the creek around 12-14' deep and was running 50' out of its bank in a pasture that borders the creek. We are expecting more tomorrow and even more this weekend.

Your right about all the rain here Charles. It's been crazy the last few weekends. I'm not looking forward to more this weekend. Trying to ruin my opening weekend of deer season!

I guess I came home and going back to work a week to early. I guess I'll try to sling some sticks or lead thanksgiving and Christmas week/end and fill the freezer. If I wasn't already a month behind in school and Flt training, I'd swing up to Washington and idaho and see bout laying a mulley and or whitetail, but would love to put some elk in the freezer.

Ain't done no Flt training since I went on fire contract in June and just off contract this past week, which is why I'm behind on schooling. Work is great, iv got a job I enjoy getting up to go to which makes a big difference in the way people preform at work. Even though I had 8hrs of sleep in 3days, I was still eager to get up and go to work. How is the baby doing?

He's doing great! A little over 3 1/2 months now and growing like a weed. Glad you like your job, it does make it better when you want to get up for work.

Possibly, just offer him some bannanas and the fleas off another chimp for him to snack on and he might consider it. If that fails, fried chicken, watermelon and grape soda should do the trick.

After reading about ya'lls pains it is hard for me to bitch or complain much as our house / land is still high and dry but we have been pounded down here in southeast texas lately too. I am completely flooded out of both of my deer leases and im about 90% sure that I lost ALL of my feeders, cameras and stands at both of my leases...........here lately it seems like the ol "if it can go wrong it will" saying has been 100% true for me  Angry

I know what u mean. Back in 09 I had a feeder and cam on an island bout mid way between the narrowest part. A wk before the unexpected monsoon hit I had a so called friend go fill the feeder and and ck my SIM card. I was coming home to hunt the following week and supposedly the cam and feeder were still there and he supposedly filled the feeder and claimed nothing worth sticking was on the cam even though I had seen some really good rubs in the area I set up at. Well, after a couple days of rain I ask him to go get my stuff before it got flooded. He claimed he didn't have time, so when I got hm I attempted to go get my stuff, but the water was knee deep in some areas and after an hr (took 20min to walk in) sloshing around i anorted the attempt and went to get chest waders and went back the next morning. By then I was able to troll my boat into the area where my gps said my stuff was at. I knew I was in the right area bc my rope was still in the tree, so I slid out of the boat to try and find my cam. I had to use my legs to feel around the trees bc the water was inches from flowing into my waders. I climbed back in and come to the conclusion, some hole in the butt stole my stuff, I just wasn't sure if it some random person or if the so called friend helped himself to my stuff before the rains hit and took it to his lease. After that, I locked my other feeder and cam up with braided cable on another island and set a cam in a tree to watch my feeder and cam. If the thief didn't have a climber, he couldn't get the other cam and I also welded teeth on a 30/30 coni bear body grip trap and set a couple around the tree where my cam was. Luckily I never caught anything in it, but it sure woulda sucked for the thief since 1 person could release the springs with it on his leg and cell reception SUCKED in that area unless I was 25-30' in a tree, so he woulda been there a while unless he shot the lock off the traps.
