Cow dog trials, Smithville Ok., Oct. 17 and 18. You will see some of the best cowdogs in the country work, and would bet a man could buy some.

At this cow dog trail, Are we talking about cow dogs like Curs or fluff tailed sheepard dogs?

I said cowdog not sheepdog. The majority will be blackmouth, with a few spotted dogs. It usually ends up a Ben Jordan benifit or dogs bred pretty much the same.

These cow dogs will be Head dogs James.  ( or get shot one.. ) Find em, stop em, gather em , bay em and lead em kind of dogs.
If a feller wants to  know how a cur dog is suppose to work cattle and what they look like doing it, great time to go watch, ask questions and learn from many old folks that have done it for years and still do it as well as  know what they are talking about. It aint what somebody told them.
Will be held at - James Camp's place- just south of Smithville, OK. off HWY. 259. Sign will be posted. Starts 9:00 am Saturday and again at 12:00 Sunday. Motels avaliable in Broken Bow Oklahoma and Mena Arkansas.

i understand, in my learnin's all cur dogs are head dogs, well at least all the ones if seen or had where, except my lacys, they heel and head. in my post i was just stating that Bcs are used for cattle as well, it would be cool if they opened a new subject on the forum for cow dogs, but then again that kinda strays from the point of the site "Hog Doggin".

What kinda prize moneys in this cow dog trial?

Thanks: James K
