Started the morning casting where we seen a big boar cross into a block a few days ago either avoiding us or got bumped out by a bow hunter. slick did everything he could do today to put us on a hog. Got near a unhappy coyote den and that put a binder on the first track before it got heated up. Hard to tell when your young dogs sound like coyotes too. The deer didn’t help none either like they said they would. Strike two on the youngins . Second cast we decided just to let slick and his cheerleader flash go and hold the brothers back. We passed up a lot of good sign to respect the bow hunters. Unintentionally we casted them on a oak that hogs had been feeding under off the road. That hound tail got to moving , he barked a few times and they started floating off. It kept me on the edge of my seat trying to listen. He wasn’t giving mealot to work with. 20 thirty minutes or more  Slowly and surely he got the steam pouring and they almost came out of the woods where we had went in. Made a great big loop. By the time he crossed the road he was rolling and opening more. so I thought it was time to let the bros go. Track looked good nothing big. They bayed for a minute or two and once we got around we heard it brake. a split race and a few cut up dogs later, no boar. Should’ve just brought the old man and a bulldog today. Maybe would’ve got something done.

For sure it happens. If we we’re psychics we would never have to make a mistake but there’s no guarantee that you would’ve caught the hog with a different approach’s sometimes it just works so that everything is in the hogs favor.

Oh yeah definitely not beating myself up, as much as my hunting buddy and I did each time with our eyes when we couldn’t explain what was going on. Just made me appreciate an old nose down semi trash broke hound more lol. The tracks on the first one were deifiently a tree shaker. Just the coyote coming in raising hell and redman running a deer all over it I figured the track was pretty much blown out. Something about not bringing a bunch of siblings and dropping the box on a cast still whispers in my mind to this day. Wonder if I’m the first person to figure that out lmaoo
