I've got a pup I've taken out to the woods a few times hadn't seen a hog in the woods till the other day but i think he may have gotten tossed by boar hog . Seem kinda afraid now do i cull him or work him on a smaller hog for awhile. Should build his confidence back up. Im looking for suggestions.

Leave him alone for alittle bit and let him kinda forget then try him on a baby hog and see what happens

Some recover from it some don't, only time can give you the answer to this question. Give him a few months and start him over at step 1.

He seems to have a good attitude  im thinking he might work out. Im gonna put him on a small pig this weekend see how he react to it. Maybe this encounter he had will make him bay more if anything he's a jagd so they tend to try to catch . Hopefully this will tech him to respect a bigger hog and live longer.

Thanks for the advice

if a dog is bred to be gritty and one little scuff ruins him , i'd say he was a born cull.

I had a gyp that was pit/cat cross that was hit on her first hunt and did pretty much the same as this pup. It seemed to light a fire in her after that, hopefully this experience does the same too him.

Don't think that it only applies to young dogs man.. I bought a gyp from a feller that was 4 yrs old.. could run her own track and bay her own hog until she bayed a barr one morning .. I sent my dogo to her while she was bayed by herself and after we caught the barr,, I noticed the yeller gyp was cut in the shoulder.  Well ,, didn't think to much of it and it took about 3 weeks for her to heal up good and I took her out again... Well she wouldn't even hunt no more,, she'd make a loop and come get back on the bike.  On another hunt after that,, she wouldn't even go to a bay with my other male dog.. That's the first time I had ever had a old dog QUIT after being cut ...
