Went to a place today that’s been several months since I’ve went too. And I’ve only hunted once before. This time me and my buddy brought fourwheelers. I rarely get the chance to hunt off one so it kinda begins a cluster lol. When we pull up to the gate there was six deer out in this meadow. I joked to my buddy surely these pups ain’t gonna track them and run them. Wel I unload them and start hooking them up and what do you know they’re right in the mist of them in the woods and they take it a mile. While I waited to see which direction they’re we gonna go I let slick out and he rubbed on a track here and there until I went and got the two pups back. Well we recast and this track is really looking good haha but it disappears. They keep trying it but finally sprinkle back in. We recasted them where I found the most hog sign last time and slick and Redman took off. Those two really had it moving good. Redmans brother Pete and sister flash finally got out of the woods on the last bad track and they pilfered around where slick and Redman went in. Anyways we started moving closer just to tighten it up some. While we were sitting there my friends young dog and Pete and flash started hammering about 400 yards away. We ease into it and they were bayed against a log. Couldn’t see the hog so I tried to position my cd joker to go around the log so he ain’t gotta go around or jump it. He still went on the wrong side and ended up catching it on the nose between a 8 inch space between the log and the groundsomehow. We have been wanting to Barr the boars and release the sows so we got the chance to tie her and release. That went pretty good. And the pups killed some piglets. Got my bearings and Slicks bay had finally settled down so we jump on the bikes and head to him. I get about 300 yards and the gps jumps him to across this creek bayed solid. I was wondering why I couldn’t hear him. We get as close as we can to him and this creek is in the banks. It’s not swift but above your head in some places and about 200 yards wide. Couldn’t get any of the pups to pack into him and we surely couldn’t find a good place to cross. I’m the midst of hunting I blew the back bead on the tire for the fourwheeler and my friend about sunk his bike and lost his phone but thankfully he found it. We got situated we made it back to the truck limping along and headed around to get slick. He had it bayed several hours and didn’t move a hair. Where we had to go in at was a cattle ranch and I had my buddy sit in the truck at there house just in case they showed up. He was about a mile away when I started in. I didn’t even vest my bulldog. Once I got about 500 yards away I look up the trail ahead and see a 75 and a hundred pounder feeding without a care in the world. It was really weird seeing them in there natural environment. They kinda mosey away and I ran into another sounder of about 15. None of them were in a hurry and I wasn’t trying to scare them off. Slick was still hammering and me and joker cross some more chest high water and I get to where I can see slicks butt on a little hill right on the bank. I can see him laying down beside a bush and I’m thinking 120 until slick makes him stand and I can see ears as big as my hand flopping trying to look over the scrub to see what I was. I’m about 20 yards away and I cut joker loose. He definitely wasn’t 120 probably 120 pounds more. They met head on and he jumped right back into the water in jetski mode. Thankfully my dogs came back after I toned them a lot. Joker would’ve been in a hell of a bind. We made it home about 4. I got a hour worth of sleep now I gotta knock out this 12 haha. Sounds like you have some hogs in the woods. That will be great for getting those young dogs going. That high water can sure put a damper on getting around. Ole slick must be related to my dogs because you can bet, they will be bayed on the opposite side of the water. Good hunt.

Thank guys and he may be lol I always knew plott guys liked alittle walker in there lol jkjk. There is a good quantity of all game species there surprisingly. Seems like most places with a lot of one don’t have much of the other. My little yellow gyp did a lot better than I expected, foresights a killer but I was hoping a cur July gyp out of the liter would work

That’s why I hunt with young guys, it doesn’t matter which side of the water they are on, lol. Sounds like the dogs were working hard and that’s always a plus.
