Chris and Mandi, sorry for your loss. It's never easy when you lose a good one. Prayers going up for Meathead. RIP.

Thanks again guys. His loss really couldn't be compared to losing a catch dog, and I appreciate all the prayers and well wishes. We semi retired him the last year or so, thinking that if we limited the number of hogs he was on that his chances of sticking around with me were pretty good. The idea was to get him in the woods enough to still let him think he was useful, but also being selfish in wanting an old friend to live forever. After he was gone, I felt like going on a last hunt was much more fitting for him than getting old and dying of old age without dignity. I would still change things if I could, and be just plain selfish about it.
I really want to thank all of the folks who offered to let me borrow their dogs as well. It really says a lot about the group of folks that make up this community of hunters. As it turned out, a dog I have wanted to own for quite a while came available to me on Friday, and although I would rather have had both he and meaty, a good okie friend brought my new boy to me on Saturday. I'm still pretty heartbroken over meaty, but I think tater will give me something to focus on.
I'm not sure how he will take to pink nail polish, but he sure loves banana nut bread.
Thanks again guys, I'm so proud to call you all friends.
Cheers M

I'm so very sorry Mandi and Chris. It's just heartbreaking to read this. But you're right, Meathead got to go out doing what he loved, a catch dog to the end, and I can't think of a better goodbye for such a beloved bulldog.

Bob,
Tator hasn't left my side since he got home. He came with me to work today, and he hogged the covers last night. I have wanted him since I got to hunt with him early this year, and he is really even better than I thought. He really could not have come at a better time.
