Hey guys & gals! I was sitting here pondering pigs and different subspecies of them, I was always told that the pigs we have here in Hawaii are a cross between a polynesian pig and domestic stock that got loose from farms but after looking into the subspecies list I found out that the pigs we have here are Sus Scrofa Scrofa (European Wild boar) brought here by Capt. James Cook in the 1770's which crossed with the domestic stock. I also noticed there is no Subspecies labeled Russian boar and that the pigs that lived in Russia went extinct in wide areas in the 1930's so I now am curious what subspecies are "The Russian Boar" because according to Wikipedia it falls under the subspecies European Wild Boar but the ones I see on Youtube and the ones they are fencing in and charging $2000 to catch a grain fed "wild boar" don't look nothing like what we have here! I figured Cody or maybe another person with a little more knowledge could answer this for me! Thanks guys!

Well I think the technical name is EurAsian wild boar.   Part of Russia is in Europe and the other part is in Asia so, a European Wild boar can live in Russia and that would make him a Russain Boar or an Asian Boar? Well hopefully he's not communist anyway.  lol
