We have several places we hunt pretty regularly after deer season is over. My question is do yall think a dog learns a place and remembers from hunt to hunt the property. If so do you think they would hunt different on these places. Maybe range out a little farther or take some of the same trails?

I could name four or five places that we hunt where I have seen dogs go check places where they have found hogs before and definitely take familiar trails through the woods.  That is something the garmin has proved that we already kinda thought was true anyways...

Yes sir they learn.... seen it many times !!Them dogs ain't dumb they catch on very fast!!Before I had tracking system my dogs would come home even after looseing them 10 miles from the house!!I would get up to go look for them the next day and they would be on the porch happened alot!! My mother in law lived 2 miles from me and if I would go to her house my dogs would travel down there but if I went to town they would stay at home! You could not see her house and had to turn down roads... how did they know I was going to her house they even crossed a major highway to get there!! 2 of the best dogs I ever owned Rambo and Torbo!!

Dogs do remember areas or where they have found game before.

You can see it when starting/training coon dogs on feeders.  When you turned them out, straight to the feeder because they know thats where the coons will be.

In the spirit of deer season.........I'll go out on a limb and say it.  On these place I hunt that are also deer leased, my dogs know the place better than all the the deer hunters combined.  lol
