We hunted some wooded ranch land that belongs to a hunt buddy's family on Saturday and hunted some river bottom in Colorado county on sunday.

On Saturday, we caught 4 hogs in about two hours.  Nothing of any size so the curs pretty much caught out on everything but the dogs worked real good and one the guys hunting with us had a new dog on the ground so it was good to get it on some hogs.  Tank and Peachez were like ghost and stayed gone just about the whole hunt.  Those two struck every hog.

On Sunday,  we left all the rough stuff at home and worked just loose dogs.  They did an awesome job taking tracks and striking hogs but we ended up running a lot more than we caught and we definately ran more than we normally do that's for sure.  We only put our hands on one but the dogs stayed on hogs just about all morning.  They will either learn to lay teeth or we are going to have add a little more muscle to the group.  The did bay up a real nice boar and sent Snookie in for the catch.  The boar saw her coming, gave her a good pop and cut under the jaw, broke, and we never saw it again.

It was nice to meet you guys and it was great to see the Pesaks again.  It has been way too long.  Daniel's new dog is out of Krystal's Joker/Roo litter.  Wiley ended up in a non hunting home for the first year and a half of his life.  I gladly picked this dog up a few months ago, and have mostly worked him in the bay pen and on staged hunts.  He has only been on a few hunts, and he showed to already know what's going on Saturday morning.  I know he is in the right hands to become what Ugly Dogs become.  Daniel has gotten his hands on two Joker pups in the last few weeks.  One out of each litter.

I was nice to meet you too.  I'm glad I can now put a face to the name.  The Pesak boy's and Court need to watch out....if they can keep those dogs on hogs regularly over the next couple of months they are gonna be hell on wheels.  Wiley is a gamey dude.

Nice pics and hunts! Glad yall had good time

Don't worry CullBuck, those two pups of Daniels have been on less than a handfull of hogs, and with what they are already doing, in a couple of months the two will pair up like peas and carrots, then they will hold their hogs just fine ( I PROMISE), they have to learn from those experiences of hogs breaking in order to learn what not to do. Both of them pups need to be be backed off and not allowed to catch everything while they are still young, just keep them hunting with loose dogs for the next six months to a year!

Wiley has the look of his Uncle Lotto!

Did Chunk make this hunt too?

Derick, did you bring your Star pup?

Crystal, I'm not worried at all.  They are just green pups and I'm actually very excited to see how they progress.  The experience is definately a huge plus for these young dogs.  Them getting to join in on dog piles isn't teaching them near as much as they learned yesterday.  Plus, I'd hate for them to think they can do every hog like that....it will get them killed in a hurry.  I can tell that Wiley has "it" and there's little doubt that with time Bandit will turn on too.  I didn't have a single dog on the ground yesterday and just brought some catch power so it was a very low stress hunt but I comletely enjoyed watching the young dogs work.

Chunky nuts was with us on just Saturday morning.

It was a great weekend.  Thanks again to Aaron and Charles for the invites.  If Peachez and Tank keep hunting the way they did, then those two pups will get on plenty of hogs.  Here are some of the pics I got:

Thats funny Derick thats what i was thinking when I first seen the pic of your new bulldog, but you need to bring Star to start catching behind the seasoned catch dogs.

Snooky looks like she is none to happy to just be sitting and waiting for them cur dogs to find a hog.

Good picture of Peachez!

Ol Wiley definitely has "it"  Hopefully he'll end up baying til the catchdogs get there like a few of his littermates.  I plan on taking Star VERY soon.  I'll take her when there is another solid catchdog & take the new guy when I'm the only one with a solid catchdog.  I might just start taking them BOTH!!
