We are looking for a new home for Patches to either hunt again or be used to sire puppies. This is an older dog (7) who has a pin in his hind leg. He has use of the leg, but will hunt three legged most of the time. He has a lot of drive and heart in him, but hunts close range. He is a great help dog who has struck his own for us. He is rough as a corn cob, and lives to catch a hog. He should make some awesome puppies if you didn't want to hunt him and just use him as a sire. Rides well in a dog box, doesn't care to start trouble. This dog is all about hunting.

Hunting Faults: When on a moving hog, he will yip some. He is not going wide open, just some yips. He occasionally can be led to bump on deer if you have a trashy dog with him. He will call out with no problem though. He is broke off of cattle. He may kill small furry animals, but has never trashed on skunks. You can't hunt him all day long three days in a row. Because of his injury, he's a dog that you will hunt and then give him a day off. Hunt him again, rest him a day.

If we had a barn full of dogs with as much heart as Patches, we would be very happy. As a help dog, you will find none more loyal. He has been a big part of a great many hogs for us. However, we have moved beyond him in our pack, and he needs to go to someone who is going to hunt him or breed him. As a matter of fact, depending on what he was bred to, I may be interested in a pup. I have a lot of faith in him. He does come with his NALC papers.

Patches and our Plott held this 200 lb boar for a long time while we tried to get to them with the catch dog. Despite being cut, he was happy to help out.

This was the 306 lb boar we caught recently

At least I'm successful at doing nothing right. I guess it could be worse.
