I have recently aquired a full blooded Dogo male around a year and a half old that has never seen a hog.  I have heard they are a little harder to get started catching than a pit bull.  If anyone has any advice or training tips I would greatly appreciate it.

Disclaimer: I'm not a hunter, I'm a Dogo enthusiast who has hunted his dogs.

Put them with a pig that will want to fight with them, but one that can't do much damage if you know what I mean.  If its a real dogo it should have no problems turning on to an animal that wants to fight.  Once it gets the idea that you are happy when it goes after hogs, that will be it.  Obviously you'll have to fine tune to your hunting style, but this will work for a proper dogo temperament.

The creators of this great breed said that the most important part of dogo training should be teaching it to tolerate domesticated animals.  Because it is the Dogos natural instinct to attack.

I have gotten Dogos that have never seen a boar to turn on, in less than 20 minutes(more like 5minutes) these dogos were 2yrs, 5 yrs and 6.5yrs old.  None had. ever seen a boar before that minute.  None witnessed the other dogs working.

Dogo training 101:

step 1 - sell dogo
step 2 - buy american bulldog, vest, cut collar, leads, 12 pack of beer, full tank of fuel for the wheeler and some scratch offs with the money from the dogo.
step 3 - take the american bulldog to the woods and catch pigs then drink your 12 pack

 Grin
