i would like to get mine done too. i was thinkn bout the tattoo and doin it myself but i dont know how to keep the dog still long enuf to do the ink. with the sound of the gun and the slight bit of pain would probly scare the crap out of the dog.

Order the brand from this guy.

http://www.freeze-brands.com/

Follow these directions.

Here is one of my pups that was branded last year. Seems much more effective than a tattoo.

i tatted two of my dogs. I just use a tatoo gun for rabbits to do mine. I held the dog while my buddy did it. I put them on there ears.

from what i read on the freeze branding, the branded area hair turns white. i have white dogs, so what can i do to insure the brands stands out and dont blend with their natural hair color?

Hold the brand on twice as long so that you kill the hair follicle, that is what we did on my white bulldog

My Dad use to tattoo all his hounds on the inside of the ear and the inside of their top lip. There was a time that alot of peoples hounds got stolen in California and He started tattooing his dogs. The theifs followed people home from the coon competions after seeing the dogs work. A group of guys were actually caught by the law and ended up having 20 hounds recovered, they were taking the dogs back east and selling for big money.
