I've got a few small alligators in one of our ponds. They're about 4ft. long. I need to get rid of them. Any advise on how to catch them. Size hook? Bait?

I wanna help! Don't know how big the hook is but big enough for a chicken. Cable lead with a big swivel for a twisting gator. Then a rope to anchor it so it don't run off. If you put a float to keep the hook off the bottom the gator won't be able to rest on the bottom. A tired gator is better.

1/2 a stick of dynamite should do it! Cheesy

If you dont have that available just contact HogzGoneWild. He has a Lacy dog that catches them! lol.

If he is busy, use a limb line or bungee line with a swivel up top. Finish it off with a stainless steel 7/0 - 9/0 stainless steel redfish hook and a chicken neck. Larger gators will wreck this kind of set but 4 footers will just get caught.

I hear you can do something with a generator. But I would never do anything like that.

The rod and reel does sound like fun!

The pond is about 15 acres. It was a borrow pit for I-49. Going to drive a T-post to hold a line and just throw the baited hook out as far as I can. I heard nylon twine would hold. Im going to do it tomorrow evening and check it sat morning.

There is an alligator season. You can get one with each hunting license. Use legal means and three buddies and you got em legal. Anything else and I know nothing. Of course if they are attacking your dog you can just shoot them.

Just find you a decent sized topwater lure on a big ol spinning rod with some cable leader.
Four foot ain't nothing to worry about, grab it's tail and put your foot on it's neck.

Oh yeah TXHogs method also works if your scared to get down with a little gator Wink

We use saltwater top-water lures, very sharp hooks, and let em' take it for awhile. Its done for relocation purposes so the barbs are filed off for easier and less dangerous removal of the lure. They are like a cat with yarn and will come runnin'!

When I finally get my hand fixed I will be on here finding someone that has land I can go pop one with my bow. But I just got a new cast for four more weeks!

My relatives in Florida would go out in a boat with a spear. Spear em with a line attached and get pulled around. Then jump in with a knife and cut the spine. The finally admitted they get a rope around the mouth before jumping in. But they got some really big gators!

all you need is a snatch hook on a sturdy rod.  Throw it across his back and reel him in.

or

set you a line w/ some chicken on it.   leave a few coils of line on the hill with a bouy on it.  Set it and come back the next day and find the bouy and pull him in.
